Bridgewater Mayor Dan Hayes Announces Diwali Celebration
Township Senior Citizens Club and the Bhaarat Nritya Academy of Bridgewater to Host Holiday Celebration
Bridgewater Mayor Dan Hayes invites all residents to attend the 3rd Annual Township Diwali Celebration. The “Festival of Lights” signifies the victory of light over darkness and celebrates hopes and new beginnings and will take place on Saturday, November 5, 2016, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Bridgewater Township Senior Citizens Center. The Center is located at 455 Somerville Road, Bridgewater.
The free performance event will include dance and musical entertainment by the Bhaarat Nritya Academy, a fashion show and a special performance of Dandiya or the stick dance. An optional luncheon provided by Bombay Spice will follow the performances for the nominal fee of $5.00. It is requested that tickets for the luncheon be purchased in advance at the Senior Citizens Center. Raritan Valley Community College’s Youth Program will offer daytime classes for school-age children during the Teachers’ Convention break, November 10 and 11.
A variety of classes for students ages 6-17 will be offered at the College’s Branchburg campus. Programs will focus on such areas as robotics, science, technology, engineering, fine arts, exam preparation, comic book creation, and more. Two-day, single day, and half-day programs will be offered November 10 and 11.

The National Park Service will officially re-open the renovated video theater in the Thomas Edison NHP visitor center at 211 Main Street at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, November 2, 2016. All are invited. A variety of films are shown throughout the day in the theater. In addition to Thomas Edison’s 1903 classic, The Great Train Robbery, The Invention Factory, The Story of Thomas Edison and his West Orange Lab, and Glenmont: A Historical Tour, Thomas and Mina Edison’s West Orange Home, we are also showing our newest film: The Wizard of West Orange (2016).
