Spooktacular Programs Plus Special Math & Science Weekend in NJ

Note: there are no Storytimes, Toddler Times or Infant Lap Sit Times the week of Oct. 25th. These programs resume Nov. 3rd. (The Library is closed Election Day, Nov. 2nd).  See our program calendar for details.

Little Red Riding Hood performed by Youth Stages (Suggested for families with children ages 3 and up) No registration required.  Saturday, October 23 at 10:30 am.    Join Youth Stages and take a “not-so-scary” walk in the woods with Little Red, the “tricky grandmother”, a “rockin’ wolf” and more!

All the World's a Stage: Things that Go Bump in the Night For grades 2 - 6  Monday, October 25 at 4:30 pm Registration Required   Calling all actors (or audience members) – Join us for an afternoon of theater games and reader's theater performing stories to make you shiver (at least a little).

Halloween Hootenanny!! Suggested for families with children of all ages.   No registration required Wednesday, Octobooooo 27 at 10:00 am.  A special Halloween sing-along. Please feel free to come in costume.

Rocket Readers Limited to grades 1 - 3 Registration Required Tuesday, October 26 from 4:30 - 5:30 pm
Nate the Great and the Monster Mess by Marjorie Weinman Sharmat.  An exciting program for brand new readers! At each program we will discuss a book, play some games and create a “book-tiful” craft related to the story. Students should read the book prior to the program. Copies of the book will be available at the Youth Services Reference Desk. Pick up a copy when you register. Please, bring the book along.
 
Talk It Up Book Discussion Group  Limited to students in grades 5 -8   Registration Required  Tuesday, October 26 from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm  The Oracles of Delphi Keep by Victoria Laurie  If you love to read and talk about books, you are cordially invited to an hour of book talk and friendly company. Parents and parent substitutes are welcome to join in the discussion.
 
Advocating for Your Child with Special Needs  -- Transition to Preschool
Registration Required   Thursday, October 28 from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Understanding the joint responsibilities of families, school districts and child study teams when transitioning out of early intervention, will be the focus of this presentation.
 
Spooktacular Craftacular   For ages 3 - 8    Saturday, October 30 at 10:00 am Registration Required  Hey goblins and ghosties, join us for a storytime and craft!

a Satellite event of the USA Science & Engineering Festival
